Witham Navigable Drains

Postby Bendall on Fri Oct 10, 2008 11:55 am

The Witham Navigable Drains is an extensive area of waters bounded by The Wash which, though navigable, are primarily for the drainage of Fenland. They were once used for carriage of goods but many navigational artefacts have fallen into disrepair.

The Drains are nowadays more usually frequented by fishing vessels and pleasure craft though the nature of the terrain may curtail any available views. Navigation is afforded a low priority; there are few facilities and water levels may vary dramatically.
